When I started working on The People Who Can't Meet You, a children's book about loss, the most important thing to me was making sure it was accompanied by warm, beautiful illustrations that allowed children to feel safe and enjoy themselves.

The People Who Can't Meet You is a book about loss that never focuses on what we've lost. Grief books for kids can be heavy handed, or over-focused on what they need to heal. I wanted to make sure this book focuses instead on all the amazing things our children get out of these relationships they can no longer foster.
